with Jared Boot-Haury, PsyD, MBA, ABPP, CST-S (they/he)

Course Description
This 2-hour training equips sex educators, counselors, and therapists with the knowledge and tools to provide culturally responsive, affirming support to asexual individuals. The course uses current research and best practice recommendations to explore the diverse experiences, relationships, and identities within the asexual spectrum.

Participants will examine common misconceptions, the role of minority stress, and the impact of intersecting identities. Through lecture, discussion, and case-based learning, attendees will learn how to avoid harm, challenge pathologizing narratives, and foster inclusive environments across practice settings

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the components of minority stress as they relate to asexual individuals, including systemic, interpersonal, and internalized sources of stress.
  • Identify at least three common misconceptions about asexuality and explain how these contribute to stigma and clinical misattunement.
  • Apply culturally responsive strategies to support asexual clients across educational, clinical, and community settings, with attention to intersecting identities.
