Course Introduction

Program Content
As sexologists, we have a responsibility to convey accurate, useable information about different topics to various audiences, such as prevention of STIs. As such, AASECT requires that we have a knowledge of learning theory and methods. In this course, you will have an overview of various learning theories, including the health belief model, and their applicability.

Intended Audience
This course is recommended both as an introduction to the topic as well as an update for more experienced practitioners of sex and relationship therapy.

Course Objectives
As a result of taking this course, you will be able to:
1. Describe three major theoretical models used in sexual health education.
2. Describe how each theoretical model in the course can be used to effect changes in sexual behavior.
3. Describe two examples of studies that used learning theory to understand change in sexual behavior.

Total CE Hours: 3.5
*If seeking AASECT certification, these hours may count as follows:
Area N: 3.5 hours

Exam and Evaluation
You are required to take an exam to demonstrate that you read and understood the material. This course contains one exam and one evaluation. You will have three tries on the exam to pass at 80% or better. Once you complete the course evaluation, you will be able to automatically download your certificate of completion.
