The Comprehensive Sexology Program

Course material is varied and includes virtual live workshops, recorded lectures, documentaries, website visits, and journal articles. The material is introductory, but at a post-doctoral level to satisfy APA requirements. Courses are broken into sections, so you can choose to complete the entire course in one sitting--or just do as much as you have time for that day.  We have applied all of your coursework in the ASHP Program towards the AASECT certification requirements to minimize overlap, extra work, and extra cost. We designed this program for busy professionals, so a good portion of the coursework is self-paced. You will have access to your self-paced coursework as soon as you enroll.

Your live training hours will be a combination of the training you have already received in the ASHP Program as well as another 37 hours that will take place over two inspiring weekend workshops. Each weekend is offered 2-3 times a year and they are interchangeable so you can select the dates that best suit your schedule. You can take a weekend training right away, or wait until you've completed some or all of the online learning. You'll also receive access to all of the self-paced continuing education you'll need to fulfill AASECT's education requirements to become certified as a Certified Sexuality Counselor or Certified Sexuality Therapist.
For the additional AASECT certification requirements, we are available every step of the way. Dr. Buehler offers mentoring to help connect you with a supervisor with shared treatment styles and interests. And while you are welcome to take your Sexual Attitude Reassessment (SAR) with any provider, we do hold a handful throughout the year.

Curious about AASECT? Confused about the certification requirements? Check out our FREE All About AASECT Webinar.  AASECT education requirements include to 105 hours of online instruction (with 75 hours in the AASECT Core Knowledge Areas and 30 in Sex Therapy Training) plus 45 hours of live instruction, (with 15 hours in Core Knowledge Areas and 30 in Sex Therapy Training).

Once you have completed the Comprehensive Sexology Program, you will receive a transcript and an AASECT application pre-filled with all of your courses.

Weekend Workshops

For the Weekend Workshops, we ask learners to attend two weekend workshops, called Weekend A and Weekend B. Your program fees will cover attendance at ONE Weekend A Workshop and ONE Weekend B workshop.

Weekends take place Friday, Saturday, and most of the day on Sunday. The schedule stays the same each weekend. On Friday and Saturday, we'll meet from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm PST.  On Sunday, we'll meet from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm PST.

The enrollment is limited to no more than 20 people per weekend. It’s a great opportunity to learn intensely, be exposed to new ideas, and to network with fellow travelers on the path. The comment most often made on evaluations is, “I learned so much!”

Upcoming Weekend Workshop dates are as follows, with most workshops being held live via Zoom.

Upcoming Weekend Workshops are as follows. Please select ONE workshop from the Weekend A list and ONE workshop from the Weekend B list.
