Intended Audience
This course is recommended both as an introduction to the topic as well as an update for more experienced practitioners of sex and relationship therapy.

Course Objectives
After reading Sensate Focus in Sex Therapy, the learner will:
  • Understand how the fundamental skills learned in Sensate Focus 1 are essential to the development of Sensate Focus 2 so that these ideas can be shared with clients, optimizing effectiveness.
  • Relate the precise instructions and implementation of Sensate Focus 1 and 2 to clients as a treatment modality in sex therapy.
  • Determine when and how to use Sensate Focus for each of the DSM-V sexual diagnoses and construct adaptions for diverse populations.
  • Manage common obstacles in the implementation of Sensate Focus.
  • Use Sensate Focus with clients who have psychological and physical concerns by demonstrating psychoeducation to challenge limiting beliefs about sexuality and using physical adaptions as necessary.
